Welcome

Fíorchaoin fáilte go Coláiste Chríost Rí, scoil bunaithe ar an gcultúr Gaelach agus ar dearcadh na Críostíochta.

Welcome to Coláiste Chríost Rí, an all-boys school founded by the Presentation Brothers and committed to their educational vision.

This vision views education as much more than the preparation of students towards success in the workplace although it shares the concerns of all parents that this should be a fundamental aim. In this regard our history of academic achievement, characteristically impressive, speaks for itself. However, to excel in this alone would be, for us, a limited achievement.

It is also important also to prepare students for life, a preparation which should enable them to respond to life’s challenges, to cope with its disappointments and to be alive to its mysteries. In a word we aim towards ‘wholeness’.

Wholeness is achieved when all aspects of the person – mind, body spirit, soul - are supported and nurtured. Persons, like plants, grow or wither depending on the soil which nourishes them. The soil of Coláiste Chríost Rí is fertilised by several elements. Among these are the conviction that structure is vital for human development, that people grow when respect and humanity characterise all interaction, that a faith-based school such as ours should, above all else, provide meaning and that the ‘self’ flowers within a supportive community.

When all these factors combine and cohere in school functioning, education becomes enlarged beyond the narrower, if vital, aim of preparing for examination success to the nobler challenge of enabling the person to become secure in himself and to be able to embrace life with confidence.

Such is the vision of Coláiste Chríost Rí. We are proud of our achievements, proud of our long record of impressive exam results, proud of our extra-curricular dimensions, proud of our many successes, several of which have been record-breaking and proud, most of all, of the students we work with and of the people that they become.
