The Business Subjects are very strong in Coláiste Chríost Rí.

In Junior Certificate, Business Studies is a single subject and covers basic accounting and business knowledge. It studies our rights as consumers, banking and insurance, employment, transport and business communications. It also deals with keeping track of your cash and bank accounts, a firm's profit, business transactions and how even clubs and societies must be run in a businesslike way.

For Leaving Certificate, there are three separate subjects in the Business group - Business, Accounting and Economics. The first two are further studies on the foundations of the Junior Certificate course.

For 5th year students, Economics is almost entirely a new subject. Topics studied include how we are motivated and behave as consumers, and how firms are influenced by their location, size and the degree of competition they face. We examine the influence of government, the EU and global bodies such as the World Trade Organisation, and the economic importance of money and banking. We learn how Economics, though a relatively new science, can explain the major influences on our lifestyle, jobs and wealth - matters of great interest to everybody!
