Materials Technology Wood
Construction Studies

Materials Technology Wood is one of the optional subjects available in the Junior Cycle to some students in Coláiste Chríost Rí. It may be taken at either Ordinary or Higher Level in the Junior Certificate examination.

Year 1
Students are introduced to the Safety Rules, Tools and Machines in the beginning and they complete three projects and study some theory.

Year 2
Students broaden their skill base and study a more detailed section of the course.

Year 3
Students finish the Theory section and also complete a project of their own choice, which is part of the Junior Certificate Exam. This is a great opportunity for students to display their creativity and skills acquired, as all materials are made available to students free of charge.

Having completed the Junior Certificate Exam in this subject, interested students may have the opportunity of studying Construction Studies, which is the name given to the subject in the Leaving Certificate Exam and is a continuation of Materials Technology Wood.
