Coláiste Chríost Rí Historical Roadshow

Coláiste Chríost Rí, acknowledged as one of the country’s foremost educational establishments, brings its 50th anniversary celebrations to the people of Douglas when a collection of photographs depicting aspects of its history goes on display at Douglas Library this week and next (26th September-10th October)

The exhibition will include photographs dating from the origins of the Capwell college in 1960 to the present day. Among the exhibits will be pictorial memoirs of the original nomadic days of Chríost Rí when it had a short sojourn in Sawmill Street, sporting pictures which link the school to the formation of Nemo Rangers and record its All-Ireland successes, and rare shots of well-known past-students.
The pictures are just a selection from a collection which will appear in a forthcoming 50th Anniversary comemoration book to be launched on November 13th. Following its Douglas showing, the exhibition will go on display at a number of libraries throughout the city and county, beginning with Tory Top Road library.
