School Tours

Coláiste Chríost Rí has probably one of the most successful Educational Tour programmes in Ireland. Tours, which are optional, take place in October after many months of preperation and meetings. The emphasis is on making students travel wise while accepting full responsibility for their obligations to themselves and others.

Applications are taken in December and there is always a waiting list. Tours last about five days and there is an exciting programme that keeps us on the go from dawn to midnight. Usual destinations include Switzerland, Barcelona, Munich and Italy. Parents and pupils are hugely enthusiastic about our Tour Programme with students often taking part four years in a row!

Munich Tour 2005

Coláiste Chríost Rí students at Munich's Operaplatz during a guided city tour. Other Munich attractions included the Zugspitze summit - Germany's highest mountain, the Deutsches Museum of Science and Technology, the former Concentration Camp at Dachau, The Bavaria Film Studios, a Bundesliga match at the new Allianz Arena and, of course, swimming and ice skating at the Olympiapark.

Italy Ski Trip

During the Febraury mid-term, in a new departure for the school, a group of 30 students went to Italy on a ski trip. The trip was organised by an Máistir C. Ó Conchúir, B. Ó Ceallacháin agus M. Ó Ciardha.

Piste, snowplough, chair lifts and pasta were all the rage during the week they spent in Lavaronne, north of Lake Garda. Aprés ski entertainment was also available, from bowling to disco.

Despite a few bruises, it was a most enjoyable experience.

Switzerland Tour 2003

Switzerland Tour 2003

Switzerland has always been a highly enjoyable venue for Coláiste Chríost Rí Tours and October's unexpected snowfall added extra excitement. Our Interlaken base was near the Kleine Scheidegg mountain resort. We saw the charming city of Lucerne with its Swiss Transport Museum and endless shopping opportunities. Other highlights were the ice skating, ice hockey match and the awesome cable car ride to the Schilthorn summit.

Trip To Old Trafford

Due to phenomenal demand from students, we attended two Premiership Football games in Old Trafford last season.

Trip to Old Trafford, Manchester
In October, we attended the Manchester United versus Fulham match. United lost by three goals to one. The students were supervised by Mr. T. Power, Mr. N. Brett, Mr. G. Duggan and Mr. M. Evans.

In March we attended the Manchester United versus Southampton match. United fans were happy to see their team win this game. The students were supervised on this trip by Mr. G. Duggan, Mr. F. Duggan, Mr. D. Ó hAodha and Ms. C. Smith.

Several strangers, people with no connection with the school, commented on the excellent behaviour of our students.

We hope to organise a further trip next season.
